Members’ WhatsApp group: conditions of use

  • The group has been set up to facilitate communication between members on matters relevant to their shared interest in the allotments.
  • The group is not to be used to discuss irrelevant issues, share memes, or post adverts.
  • The group should not be used to express personal opinions or post private messages.
  • It is not necessary to respond to every post unless it is requested e.g. RSVP. When a busy user gets too many notifications, there is the chance that they will turn off the notifications, which undermines the purpose of the group.
  • If your message is not relevant to the majority of group members, please message the person concerned directly rather than the entire group.
  • Inappropriate posts include using inappropriate language, insulting messages, and voicing grievances with the Committee or with individual members of the Association.
  • When free items are offered to members via the group, please consider that others may be interested and only bid for what you really need. In the event that more than one person expresses interest, the donor will make a decision on the basis of need rather than 'first come, first served'.
  • Do not post to the group between 21:00 and 07:00 unless it is an emergency.
  • Any opinions expressed are those of individual members. Group administrators are not responsible for any comments posted by individual members of the group.
  • In the event that there is a breach of any of the rules, the group administrator reserves the right to suspend the offender temporarily from the group. This may progress to permanent suspension for repeat offenders.
  • By participating in the WhatsApp Group, you agree to these group rules.
