Tenancy conditions
- The Allotment garden shall be kept substantially free from weeds and otherwise maintained in a good state of cultivation.
- Buildings and structures on the Allotment garden shall be maintained in a good state of repair.
- No new building, greenhouse or polytunnel shall be erected without written permission from the Association.
- All new greenhouses shall be glazed with polycarbonate or acrylic sheet, and any replacement panels required for existing greenhouses shall be in the same materials.
- Unless a designated poultry plot, the Allotment garden shall be used only to grow fruit, vegetables and flowers.
- Only hens shall be kept on a designated poultry plot.
- Walkways adjacent to the Allotment garden shall be maintained as follows:
Paved paths in a clean and sound condition.
Grass paths trimmed.
Free from obstructions. - Any hedges adjacent to the Allotment garden shall be kept trimmed so as not to obstruct walkways. Boundary fences shall be kept clear of weeds and brambles.
- The Allotment garden shall not be assigned, sub-let or otherwise shared, in total or in part, without the prior permission of the Association.
- Nuisance or annoyance shall not be caused, nor aggressive behaviour displayed to the tenant or user of any other Allotment garden or to the tenant or owner of any contiguous premises.
- Entry to any other Allotment garden shall not be permitted unless authorised by the tenant of the Allotment garden to be accessed.
- Where suitable buildings exist, rainwater shall be collected and stored in covered drums (220 litre typical), Intermediate Bulk Containers (IBCs), or proprietary water butts only.
- The use of communal water supplies must be kept to a minimum and hose pipes may not be used on communal water supplies.
- Sprinklers, irrigation systems or other means of unattended watering practices shall not be used from the communal water supply.
- Non-compostable waste materials shall not be deposited on or around the Allotment garden. Any such materials arising from Allotment garden maintenance shall be removed from site.
- No waste of any description shall be burned on or around the Allotment garden.
- Dogs brought onto the Allotment site shall, at all times, be kept on a leash or otherwise under control. Dog excrement shall be bagged and removed from the Allotment site.
- Children shall be accompanied by an adult and adequately supervised whilst on the Allotment site.
- The entrance gates shall be locked following exit from the Allotment site.
NB: On occasion, fires may be organised by the Association for the disposal of clean waste arising from allotment site maintenance.
